Introduction

 

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has shown significant growth within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the last few years. The government has acknowledged the importance of the ICT sector. Subsequently, ICT development has become a centerpiece of national economic policies. Government forecasts that the ICT sector will develop into one of the biggest economic sectors in Saudi Arabia by 2020. As a result, demand for well qualified experts will increase considerably within the next years. Qualified graduates in ICT will be needed as vocational educators to train future generations of students. Thus, graduates of the TTC's ICT department will enjoy very good employment prospects. 
 

 

Training programs

 

The Department of Information and Communication Technology offers the following training programs:

 

  • Students of Telecommunication (TE) will learn fundamental aspects of antenna theories, microwave and satellite communication, mobile communication and communication systems. During the last semester, each trainee will plan and write up a Bachelor's project in a relevant field.

 

 

 

  • Students of Network and System Administration (NE) will learn fundamental aspects of computer hardware and architecture, operating systems, architectures of different networks, network configuration, network devices, ICT maintenance (software support, hardware maintenance, networks, and maintenance) .During the last semester, each trainee will plan and write up a Bachelor's project in a relevant field.

 

 

 

  • Students of Application Development (AD) will gain knowledge in programming, algorithm and data structures, information management, web technology and multimedia technology. During the last semester, each trainee will plan and write up a Bachelor's project in a relevant field.

 

 

Characteristics of the training programs

 

During the first semesters, the curricula of ICT's training programs cover the same subject matters. These core courses build a strong technical foundation, including teaching programming languages relevant for software development and by enhancing the understanding of the basic concepts of programming and application languages. Courses in mathematic algebra and data communication will further increase the students' understanding of the basic principles of their chosen vocational discipline. 
The latter semesters of the programs provide students with thorough training in their field of specialization.
